North of Ireland hiking tour – Day 4

Leave Ballycastle, drive to Ballintoy (5.5miles, 15mins drive).

Walk trail to Causeway and get bus back or other guide drops bus off and parks at one of the external carparks.

Back to Ballintoy to get bus and back to Ballycastle .

Today we leave Ballycastle and drive a short distance to Ballintoy where we will begin our hike to the world famous, UNESCO World Heritage site of The Giants Causeway. Legend has it that Finn McColl, the Irish Giant made the causeway so he could fight with the Scottish Giant, Benandonner!

Our hike starts at Ballintoy Harbour, one of the filming locations from the Game of Thrones series and takes us across the stunning beach and dunes of Whitepark Bay and onto the dramatic cliffs above. We follow the trail across the headland, past the ruins of Dunseverick Castle, an ancient royal site from the ancient kingdom of Dal Riada. We then continue along the Causeway cliffs following the trail to the Amphitheatre and down into the famous hexagonal columns below. In geological terms, the Giants Causeway was formed.

After the hike we will proceed back to Ballintoy via taxi to pick up the vehicle and drive back to Ballycastle. Dinner, lunch and breakfast included.
