Drive to Mount Errigal (35mins to begin the ascent of Donegal’s most iconic mountain

After hike drive to Ardara (33 miles, 1hr)

Mount Errigal is an iconic symbol of Donegal and the highest of peak of the Derryveagh Mountains. Todays hike takes us up new recently constructed trail through bog and up onto exposed rocky mountain path. The surrounding landscape reveals the evidence of the last ice age with ice gouged mountains, U shaped valleys and deposits of rocks & gravel visible from Errigals slopes.

The hiker is rewarded with stunning views over the entire county of Donegal with the islands of Tory and Aran visible.

After the hike we drive onto the beautiful heritage town of Ardara where we spend the next 2 nights.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

Hike: Takes approx 2-4hrs, Length 2.7miles, Elevation gain-1530ft, Route type – Out and Back, Hiking on hard packed gravel trail, high level of exposure at the summit, total drive time 1hr45mins.
